You do not need to diagnose the cause. These checks help identify where the behavior changes so your report is easier to investigate.
If you test for a plugin or theme conflict, use a staging copy and keep a current backup before making changes.
Installation, activation or updates
- Identify the exact step that stops: uploading the ZIP, activating the plugin, activating a license or applying an update.
- Record your WordPress, PHP, Contact Form 7 and CF7 Toolbox addon versions. Check that Contact Form 7 is active.
- Copy the full notice or error text, and note whether the same step worked before a recent change.
The editor and published form look different
- Identify the affected field or row, and whether the issue appears in the editor, the published form or both.
- Record the page URL, browser and screen width. Note whether the result changes in a private browser window.
- List your theme, page builder and relevant form addons. Mention custom CSS or caching if either is involved.
A saved entry or export needs checking
- Use fictional values for a new test. Note the form, test time and timezone, plus the submission response shown on the page.
- Check each stage separately: whether the record appears in saved entries, whether a file downloads and how the file opens.
- For a value or formatting issue, identify one field and the expected value. Include the spreadsheet app and import method you used.

How should I add more information?
When you receive a reply, continue in the same email thread. Include the result of any requested check and explain what changed. For a separate, unrelated issue, send a new report with its own subject.
Can I report a problem I cannot reproduce every time?
Yes. Tell us how often it happens, when you last saw it, and any pattern involving a browser, device, form or recent update. Distinguish steps you have tested from details you have not yet confirmed.
